Trump bet all his chips on this one last gasp and lost. The entire problem is this. Trump is used to getting his way and with his Wall, that is not the case at all. Trump is making a demand and is not trying to work on a bipartisan solution, or compromising in the least or is he even negotiating, he is DEMANDING. Even the day before Trump's oval office lie fest Lindsey Graham was on Fox having what is all to common with him lately, one of his hissy fits screaming that it is all the Democrats fault because they won't negotiate and give Trump his wall. What a bunch of cr@p that is. There are no negotiations. There is simply one demand that is presented over and over again and the Democrats will not budge.

Trump’s aides fear he has given himself no way out. “The president put himself in a box,” the former official in touch with the White House told me. “The problem is there’s no endgame. Right now the White House is at a seven on the panic scale. If this thing goes on past the State of the Union they’re going to be at an 11.”

Trump has screwed the pooch and has backed himself into a corner and can't seem to see a way out of his self made dilemma. All his usual ruses will not work. He can't very well blame the Democrats for shutting down the Government when he publicly admitted this is something he did and was proud of it. Trump's legacy is becoming more and more apparent.

There's a book Trump should read. Maybe it's also available in audio. The name is escaping me. Something with the word "deal" in it. "The Deal" "Making the Deal" "The Tao of the Deal" "Deals for Toddlers"

          It'll come to me.

Trump has a history of creating chaos to distract the press and the American people so that they will not notice other things that are going on. My question is - What the heck is he hiding behind a protracted government shut down and threatened declaration of a National Emergency? What is so nefarious as to warrant a distraction of this size.

Not that he is crafty enough to come up with the idea of a shut down himself to use a distraction. He is floundering and may or may not know if something even bigger is going on. He doesn't care about the wall and never did. He has been backed into a corner because he made a big deal out of it and can't see a viable way out.

It's going to be an interesting year. *puts popcorn in the microwave and finds a comfortable lounge chair*

I so agree with what you say. This wall is a distraction for something big he doesn't want known. Hopefully whatever it might be, Mueller knows what it is.

Get the popcorn ready is correct LOL

The problem, with the wall is it is discrete - either there is a wall of there is not. You can't compromise on a discrete issue. Half a wall is useless. (Maybe a whole wall is also useless, but that is a different question.) It seems to me the structure of the US governance was designed to seek compromise, and it is somewhat out of place for an issue such as this.

“Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time. I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!” the president tweeted following his temper tantrum.

I know. I posted that story because I cannot believe he would do such childish stuff. My hat goes off to Pelosi. She is not going to put up with his lies or cave in to his childish temper tantrums. What must the world think of what they see going on in America these days.
