As we contemplate the 17th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, we should be equally mindful of the warning from National Intelligence Director Dan Coats that the "red lights are flashing" just as they did before 9-11.
There is now convincing evidence that Russia is behind the "sonic attacks" on U.S. diplomats in Cuba as well as similar incidents in China. And it's not considered a rogue operation by our intelligence agencies, but rather state-sponsored from the highest levels of the Russian government. That means we are under attack on multiple fronts - sonic, electro-magnetic, cyber - all at the direction of Trump's puppet master Vladimir Putin. And the president is doing nothing to protect us while he recites insincere platitudes about the heroes of 9-11.
As Bob Woodward has gone to great lengths to emphasize with the release of his book "Fear", that Donald Trump is not only unfit to serve, he poses an existential threat to America's national security.
Rachel Maddow speculated that the title "Fear" may have a double meaning: not only the fear of Trump's reckless, impulsive, potentially catastrophic behavior that grips the White House, but the fear the American people ought to feel as we look to the future of the Trump presidency. Bob Woodward will be Rachel's guest tonight.
It is painfully apparent that Congress will take no action (apart from jamming through the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh) until at least after the November mid-term elections.
Only a massive repudiation of Trump's runaway train by voters can pull us back from the brink.
