as I did and millenial women too - be sure and bear wtiness to last night's episode of We'll Meet Again, narrated by Ann Curry on PBS.

My husband and I sat down to watch this - not knowing the subject of last night's show was dedicated to two Women's Rights champions. Be sure and have kleenex at the ready. Witnessing this is like immersing myself back in my own independent college experiences again - in the 70's. STANDING OVATION to these two rights champions. And thanks. They weren't about to be told NO. One woman literally put her life on the line for her belief in EQUAL RIGHTS. They both refused to accept the word NO on all of our behalf.

      Grateful. Soooo grateful.

Many of us remember first hand how disappointing the ERA not getting ratified felt to those of us who had worked hard for it. All it was was a proposed amendment to the Constitution that guaranteed equal rights for every American regardless of their gender, but Conservatives and Big Religions were against equality for women - - and mostly still are.

I have never gotten close to a satisfactory response for why they are so opposed to equality either, but most of us have figured it out.

Opie - fully appreciated. There never will be a high road of reasoning that dignifies actionably killing it.

We persevered. We claimed our place. We never stopped demanding equality after the ERA deadline came and went. I am still in awe of women in my generation. Cemented in laws we secured and court cases we won - equal rights will never be taken away from subsequent generations of women.

Many British women put their lives on the line to support the Suffragette movement in Britain, one woman even throwing herself under the King's horse at a racing event (she died). It's hard to believe that women in the US are still fighting for their rights, while Scandinavia laughs at us.

Universities could look women in the fact and say no to each of us just because we were women, employers would say no on the spot to you - you were a woman. It wasn't considered discrimination.

                              I remember it all.
