We've been to Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1983, and it was grand: incredibly gracious, welcoming, kind people; appealing buildings and history; beautiful river in the city, and more. ("The most English city in or out of England," or something of the sort.) The horrors they're enduring now--especially Muslim New Zealanders, of course--are unthinkable, undeserved, outrageous in almost every way. Our sympathies go out to them.
