Donald Trump has a nickname for everyone. Lying Ted, Little Marco, Low Energy Jeb and we can't forget Crooked Hillary. The latest is apparently Sloppy Steve.

Well, it is time to give Trump a nickname, and one nickname he has clearly earned is Dumb Donald. Of course Conman Donald is a good as well. I am sure there are MANY others.

      https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/seriously-how-dumb-is-trump_us_5a525a1ee4b003133ec8cb66?section=us_politics

Trump doesn’t think he’s stupid, of course. As he recounted, “I went to an Ivy League college … I did very well. I’m a very intelligent person.”

Yet Trump wasn’t exactly an academic star. One of his professors at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and Finance purportedly said that he was “the dumbest goddamn student I ever had.”

Trump biographer Gwenda Blair wrote in 2001 that Trump was admitted to Wharton on a special favor from a “friendly” admissions officer who had known Trump’s older brother.

But hold on. It would be dangerous to underestimate this man.

Even if Trump doesn’t read, can’t follow a logical argument, and has the attention span of a fruit fly, it still doesn’t follow that he’s stupid.

There’s another form of intelligence, called “emotional intelligence.”

Emotional intelligence is a concept developed by two psychologists, John Mayer of the University of New Hampshire, and Yale’s Peter Salovey, and it was popularized by Dan Goleman in his 1996 book of the same name.

Mayer and Salovey define emotional intelligence as the ability to do two things – “understand and manage our own emotions,” and “recognize and influence the emotions of others.”

Granted, Trump hasn’t displayed much capacity for the first. He’s thin-skinned, narcissistic, and vindictive.

As dozens of Republican foreign policy experts put it, “he is unable or unwilling to separate truth from falsehood. He does not encourage conflicting views. He lacks self-control and acts impetuously. He cannot tolerate criticism.”

OK, but what about Mayer and Salovey’s second aspect of emotional intelligence – influencing the emotions of others?

This is where Trump shines. He knows how to manipulate people. He has an uncanny ability to discover their emotional vulnerabilities – their fears, anxieties, prejudices, and darkest desires – and use them for his own purposes.

To put it another way, Trump is an extraordinarily talented conman.

In principle, I agree with your assessment of Dumb Donald, but being dumb implies a personal lack of intellectual ability that is well below some average level of functionality. In Dumb Donald's case, we have to create a new threshold that must include the constituent that still believes that Dumb Donald has a reasonable appreciation for difference between what is factual and what is not. Indeed, there are millions of Americans who still hold that Dumb Donald is not just able president, he is the best president.

Even more importantly, is the fact that tens of millions of what would be considered normal of Americans voted for a man that is unable to raise the level of his language discourse beyond a 4th grade level. That in essence means that he cannot understand the true import of the exchanges that place in with him and around him.

What I am saying is that Donald is unquestionably dumb, but you would have to also conclude that the American society is very much a reflection of that dumbness that has allowed Dumb Donald to rise to the highest level of governance, the presidency.

This president, unlike any other before him, has revealed the abysmal depth of ignorance that has swallowed up the American society.

In electing Dumb Donald, Americans have said to the world that we are the most ignorant citizenry on the planet and we are proud of this singular position.

This president is saying, in words and in action, that only am I Dumb Donald, but this is also Dumb America.

I totally agree with your assessment. I really don't believe Trump actually won the election though. I think it would require a pretty dumb person to vote for someone as dumb as Trump. Granted, there are a lot of dumb Americans, but I don't believe there are enough of them to elect a president.

We know he didn't win the popular vote, so when you look at the actual numbers, there are fewer dumb voters than intelligent ones. In order to win the exact number of electoral votes needed to win the election, would require a level of sophistication that no one on the Trump campaign had. That only leaves some kind of fraudulent act that resulted in a Trump win.

Referring to Trump as “dumb” is far from accurate. In fact, it’s as disingenuous as Republican’s promises. Let’s see, he has pushed his agenda, and nominated more judges than 5 previous presidents who will rule in his favor. California off shore oil drilling; 2 million acres of federal lands open to his cohorts for drilling; Taxes changed to enhance his wealth; he has used his position to increase his hotel and other businesses and made them more profitable; and he has kept the Dems in disarray. Of course if you dislike the lyin Birther, the word dumb can be used to make you feel good, but dumb is far from accurate.

I think that implication of the "Dumb Donald" is, I think, intended to make us aware of how his words and his actions are designed not to benefit Americans, in general, but to benefit himself and the narrow band that are associated with him. In being this dumb, the president is sewing the seeds of America's defeat, not on the battle field, but in the lives of ordinary Americans. And in the process, America, as a nation, is bound to decline, while the few would seem prosper.

The problem is America, America looses and that means, in the long term, no one wins. This is the context of Dumb Donald.

Yes, he is dumb, as reflected by all of the dumb things you pointed to that he has done. He has nominated more judges than five previous presidents, but more of the judges he nominated get an unqualified rating from the ABA than those nominated by any previous presidents.

California offshore oil drilling, when there is a world glut of oil and the world in moving away from fossil fuels as the primary source of energy? Can you say DUMB?!

Taxes changed to enhance his wealth? The party he chooses to align himself with will go down in defeat in the next election because of this brilliant idea. Then he will lose his temporary wealth.

Yes, he is a lying birther. A DUMB lying birther!

:::::guffaw::::: A secret and mysterious cabal of super-elite guys who are invisible and unidentifiable are plotting a New World Order are they? But somehow you know anyway that these secret elitists aim (for reasons I bet you can't explain) to rule the world from somewhere (you probably can't pinpoint) for a purpose (I'll wager you can't quite enumerate). But it's something sinister or other. Golly, really? The "New-World-Order" thingy? @@

I'm curious: to which Illuminati inspired New-World-Order agenda do you subscribe? 'Cause there are a bunch of 'em -- each just as cuckoo as the others. But, surely, you have a favorite. "The Ten Kings Prophecy"? "Population Control Gambit"? "Silent Sound Spectrum Strategy"? The "NWO Blueprint Is Concealed In Literature Code"?" The Majestic 12 Theory"? "Industrial Surveillance Protocol"? "Chemtrail-Superweapons Maneuver"? And the cuckooiest of them all "The Posthuman and Techological Singularity"?

Well, the Clintons had a say when Bill was president, and obviously Trump has a say now, so I think bankers and propagandist may be wasting their money paying to tell people things they already know.
