Funded until Dec. 11, 2015, (two weeks before Christmas) whereupon, we will most likely see a rerun of the last few days' vitriol, Planned Parenthood IS funded at this juncture.

This could have been accomplished weeks ago.

There's no excuse for this kind of brinkmanship anymore.

              LOL

You know, in a perfect world, that would sail right over the audience's head.

Here, however, it's not far from the truth. I chose to laugh versus the alternative.

This fiasco is not about normal law making by any stretch of the imagination.

It's theater, designed by the GOP majority, in a desperate attempt to 'prove' to its 'base' how tough it is. The result is nothing short of nonsense, wasted time, and wasted money.

It's always some picky little base-pandering, fine print, spec of manufactured 'moral' or 'values' dust that grinds the entire government to a halt or near halt. And it's ridiculous. It's amateur night. It's the high school lunchroom. Well, maybe that one was too harsh. High schoolers don't waste time on this kind of drama. They got texts to send....

I'm well aware of how laws are made - in general. But I gotta tell ya, I never read anything in the Constitution about threatening, year in and year out, by some fanatical fringe element, to gring the entire government to a halt, risk national security, and add billions of dollars to the debt to accommodate a couple of Congressional members' bids for the Presidency. It's a good bet the Founding Fathers also assumed that, for the most part, those elected to Congress would use their heads, keep the welfare of the country - and ALL of its citizens - in mind, and have backbone enough to make intelligent decisions for the short and long term.

That is not what this is.

What all this DOES do, though, is make a very strong case for having a Democrat in the White House to head off the chicanery and shenanigans of the current bunch of radicals in Congress.

So I and others will certainly be happy to give them what they're apparently begging for.

                  A fight.

What there is no excuse for is a President who doesn't submit his budget on time to the Congress AND a Congress who then fails to even make a reasonable attempt at passing the appropriations bills the way they are supposed to be passed. Come on...not every department's budget should be held up by an argument over whether or not to fund Planned Parenthood. Why is it the only spending bills that often get passed are the Defense Department Bills? Perhaps that was a rhetorical question. I would also love it if we didn't have to do annual appropriations bills. I understand why we do them, but it would give us half as many chances to fail if we only had to go through this every other year.

God forbid should Congress actually fund the enforcement of all the laws previously passed by Congress.

The whole budget process is BS from the get-go. Funding should be committed to within the legislature that requires it. And that's it. Period. There shouldn't be any question after that point if you're going to fund it or not. If you don't want to fund it, repeal the legislature. If you want to change funding levels, change the legislature.

This would also have the benefit of easily being able to itemize funding to specific pieces of legislature, to see exactly where the spending comes from.
