I couldn’t find the article by Erick Erickson. Since there was not link, I searched the net, but came up empty.
However, I clicked on the picture you have provided which took me to a column by Merrie Soltis. She is obviously conservative, but does seem to get what these Democratic women in Congress were remembering as they wore white. She states;
when you read about women being "given” the right to vote or “earning” the right to vote, be clear on what these women [suffragettes] suffered just so that we could be allowed to cast our votes.
Anyone who conflated their white apparel with the KKK is obviously missing the symbolism and only too ready to ridicule what even the most Right Wing Historians recognize as a huge step forward for American liberty/freedoms. 100 years ago women fought hard to get what should have been their right; and the people of the USA can be grateful that they did. I certainly am!
