      Liar-In-Chief Part II

Guts Obamacare, Circumvents Congress, Adds Debt

      By Ray Cunneff

      October 12, 2017

Trump unleashed a flurry of lies this morning on the subjects of healthcare and the debt. By executive order just a few minutes ago, he circumvented Congress and any process of reconciliation, let alone John McCain's desire to return to "regular order", and simply relaxed insurance regulations, allowing "junk insurance" policies that are worth little or nothing to be sold.

Typically, Trump the snake oil salesman proclaims this will provide cheaper, better health coverage for millions. Whether he knows he is lying or simply deluded is beside the point. The truth is, by allowing healthier people to opt out of Obamacare, defying the basic insurance principle of "spreading the risk", he will raise costs and reduce coverage for those who need it most.

The order will, in effect, nullify many of Obama's ten "essential benefits":

      1. Ambulatory patient services. [outpatient care]
      2. Emergency services.
      3. Hospitalization. [inpatient care]
      4. Maternity and newborn care
      5. Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment.
      6. Prescription drugs.
      7. Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices.
      8. Laboratory services
      9. Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management;
      10. Pediatric services, including oral and vision care.

Karen Pollitz, a senior fellow at the Kaiser Family Foundation, said "Within a year, this would kill the market".

Trump has also promulgated a whopper of a lie by claiming that the surging stock market will somehow reduce the debt and allow for massive tax cuts, that primarily benefit the rich, to be revenue-neutral or even to pay for themselves.

This is absolute NONSENSE, fantasy economics, and anyone with the slightest knowledge of the subject will tell you this "plan" will pile on enormous additional debt and possibly crash the economy.

Having been a Business Administrator for five surgeons (and still keep up-to-date with healthcare changes etc.), I can emphatically say that this will turn healthcare upside down - and will have a negative impact on our economy. My heart goes out to those with a chronic condition . . . as the dirty little secret about this "EO" is that even the poorest of insurance plans can deny an individual coverage - and thus, the ability to manage and control one's condition. Trump's friends will do just fine. They will get their "Rolls Royce" coverage no matter what. However, the poor will do without . . . or resort to 1800s medicine: "Grandma's Home Remedies".

Medicare and Medicaid will probably be the next to see an Executive Order. They still haven't funded the CHIP program for children . . . so why not throw the elderly and less fortunate over a cliff, too ?

The rural hospitals will be closing - and people will be traveling 100+ miles for emergency care IF they have the money or pathetic insurance that pays ten cents on the dollar. Irony: these same rural populations are the very ones who supported this vindictive madman for President. We tried to warn them . . . but hate filled ignorance took precedence.

I guess they will have to live the old adage: You will reap what you sow !

As a person with epilepsy, cancer, low bone density due to my medication, now a heart attack, I think I can speak to to that as a person with chronic conditions, eh?

It’s gonna be a bitch. And here I sit in Abbot’s Texas where he thought it would be fun to reject the ACA money. And believe me the Medicaid system sucks.

The pen being mightier than the sword, especially in a nation of constitutionally backed laws, is a truth most of us accept at face value. The sword leaving behind death, destruction, and barren lands wipes from history the memories, teachings and technologies of the conquered, the pen, if it is not too destroyed, preserves such. But then there are times when the might of the pen is so misused it undoes the previous good and weakens it's backer, the constitution. Such a time was this time, with the use of Trump's pen, this day.
