I don't often agree with Donald Trump's former pet leper in the flakey, blotchy skinned Irish American that is Steve Bannon.........this is one of those times I will agree with him and his stark warning to the writer of 'Devil's Bargain' Joshua Green. Green whose book has recently been released on paperback with some additional material.
One of those new edits tells of how Green and Bannon were watching the Golden Globes and in particular the rousing speech by one of the last examples of the once believable idea of an American dream, Oprah Winfrey.
Bannon told Green that the most dangerous threat to the Presidency of the United States and even Bannon's own brand of Nationalist Populism is the current rise of the #metoo movement and the increase in women taking a stand politically to take on the aftermath of complete Republican domination of all things America.
He isn't wrong and he knows that November 2018 may well be the time when the political power of women in the US can finally be realized as the status quo of male dominated politics may finally perish. The sooner the better is you are a woman living in the US, only in the US is being a female deemed by too many as a 'pre-existing condition'. Women in the US are the undersold and unsung lifeblood of the American tapestry.
Their time is not on the horizon it is now. Bannon seeing Winfrey fire up the conversation with her speech at the Golden Globes and the highlighting of all those instances of men acting like cavemen thinking they can take whatever they want whenever because they have power or influence. That hold these powerful men thought they had is losing what was once a tight grip.
It is almost as if the rise of the voice of strong smart intelligent women has acted like a long overdue stroke in the minds of the misogynist and the sexist, the abusive husband and the controlling male feeling a tingle of paralyses of what was once powerful and could not be questioned.
For so many it would have been an easy option to simply try and ignore the true dangers of simply sitting back and watch as the rights of women and the image of an Administration that simply shows no class in dealing with issues regarding high profile cases of powerful men abusing power for whatever sexual gratification......when Weinstein's behaviour was exposed those within the right pounced upon their opponents screaming about returning Weinstein's democratic donations over the years.
Where they thought they could score a cheap political point turned out to be the spark that lit the flame and that flame still burns. The brighter it burns the light cast upon 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the man who currently runs it are as much in danger of this movement of women as was Weinstein and Louis CK and Scott Baio and Matt Lauer and as it turned out a key White House staffer who like most who beat on others would always be considered a 'Good Man'........Good men don't beat women so let's do away with that nonsense immediately.
Nor do good men defend those who beat women. They do not offer platitudes or excuses, they do not give cover when none is warranted nor are they wished well in future endeavours.
Good men call out those who beat our sisters our mothers our daughters. But there are no good men in the White House.
In fact there are no good men within the GOP or the Conservative movement for that matter.
The mother of all movements is here and you know when mother gets pissed you either get on board or get out of the way.
