I don't often agree with Donald Trump's former pet leper in the flakey, blotchy skinned Irish American that is Steve Bannon.........this is one of those times I will agree with him and his stark warning to the writer of 'Devil's Bargain' Joshua Green. Green whose book has recently been released on paperback with some additional material.

One of those new edits tells of how Green and Bannon were watching the Golden Globes and in particular the rousing speech by one of the last examples of the once believable idea of an American dream, Oprah Winfrey.

Bannon told Green that the most dangerous threat to the Presidency of the United States and even Bannon's own brand of Nationalist Populism is the current rise of the #metoo movement and the increase in women taking a stand politically to take on the aftermath of complete Republican domination of all things America.

He isn't wrong and he knows that November 2018 may well be the time when the political power of women in the US can finally be realized as the status quo of male dominated politics may finally perish. The sooner the better is you are a woman living in the US, only in the US is being a female deemed by too many as a 'pre-existing condition'. Women in the US are the undersold and unsung lifeblood of the American tapestry.

Their time is not on the horizon it is now. Bannon seeing Winfrey fire up the conversation with her speech at the Golden Globes and the highlighting of all those instances of men acting like cavemen thinking they can take whatever they want whenever because they have power or influence. That hold these powerful men thought they had is losing what was once a tight grip.

It is almost as if the rise of the voice of strong smart intelligent women has acted like a long overdue stroke in the minds of the misogynist and the sexist, the abusive husband and the controlling male feeling a tingle of paralyses of what was once powerful and could not be questioned.

For so many it would have been an easy option to simply try and ignore the true dangers of simply sitting back and watch as the rights of women and the image of an Administration that simply shows no class in dealing with issues regarding high profile cases of powerful men abusing power for whatever sexual gratification......when Weinstein's behaviour was exposed those within the right pounced upon their opponents screaming about returning Weinstein's democratic donations over the years.

Where they thought they could score a cheap political point turned out to be the spark that lit the flame and that flame still burns. The brighter it burns the light cast upon 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the man who currently runs it are as much in danger of this movement of women as was Weinstein and Louis CK and Scott Baio and Matt Lauer and as it turned out a key White House staffer who like most who beat on others would always be considered a 'Good Man'........Good men don't beat women so let's do away with that nonsense immediately.

Nor do good men defend those who beat women. They do not offer platitudes or excuses, they do not give cover when none is warranted nor are they wished well in future endeavours.

Good men call out those who beat our sisters our mothers our daughters. But there are no good men in the White House.

In fact there are no good men within the GOP or the Conservative movement for that matter.

The mother of all movements is here and you know when mother gets pissed you either get on board or get out of the way.

          S/S with disagreement.

In these United States, the ultimate mother of all movements was the movement against slavery and oppression of fellow human beings.

It is from the roots of this movement that all other movements have sprung seeking to grant rights and equality to races and sexes.

The #MeToo movement is the latest offspring from this "mother", or one of the oldest to gain a new voice (depending on one's perspective). However lest we get too confident, me MUST review #MeToo's brothers and sisters and how they've fared over the years.

Slavery was finally absolved as a result of a catastrophic war with great inequality remaining for another 100 years. The Civil Rights Movement of the 60s looked to be the beginning of the end to pattern bigotry and systemic discrimination. Somehow, we've awaken 50 years later to find out we were fooling ourselves.

Over 100 years ago women were given full voting franchise, yet they did little to place themselves into seats of power. During the Second World War, women replaced men in the workplace effectively and showed they had the brains and skills, yet they willfully returned to the house when their men came back home. The advent of the Socially Conscious 60s and 70s led to gains and an attempt for gender equality via the ERA. Thirty years later a grass roots movement existed formed AGAINST "independent" women, by other women.

The #MeToo movement now raises worthy and much needed questions that should have been addressed centuries ago. But they weren't. Opportunities arose over the past 100 years and they died.

Much like an almost 250 year history of slavery and racial inequality in these United States has yet to be addressed fully.

          Lack of attention span.

In my short lifetime I have seen at least THREE "Next Best Movements" cross this nation. None of which exist in form today. I would be happy to see sustainability in purpose established for future generations to establish a current that will move this ship of state rather than a series of big waves we have to ride like a surf board.

Hard to do that with few females running for office, until the last 20 years or so.

I also would like to add that our country was founded by a movement.

We the People, in order to form a more perfect Union....

MM Most excellent comment. So much of what we are fighting for and against today is exactly that which we fought for and against in previous movements and protests. Why in this day and age would we see a movement called Black Lives Matter since we supposedly resolved that matter concerning racial discrimination long ago? We may have won battles in the past but not the war itself as we clearly see today. The fight never ends and we must remain vigilant and when such violations appear we must once again raise our voices and meet the latest challenge head on.

This all reminds me of at least 40 years ago of a couple I knew. The Man came home from work and the wife waited on him hand and foot. She even fixed his bath and meal time she served him everything. He didn't have to do anything when he got home. The crazy thing was they had a son and she was raising him the same way. I thought of this because if that couple were young today with their son in tow. I wonder what he would think if his wife told him to fix his own plate or run his own bath? It's crazy but I imagine there are still couples today that do the same thing. It's Okay for couples to do this sort of thing as a token of love and support but this man expected it and a few times I saw him ask where the ketchup was or mayo or if she laid towels out etc. I never was around to see if she laid his clothes out too. lol

I met many men growing up and after having my children a few men thought they were Gods gift to women, and women can't make it in this world without a man. I look at how the White House is being run, and I wonder what kind of men they are at home and how much BS their wives have to put up with. They have to be subservient don't you think? I mean look at how the men are acting about all of this. Maybe this is why Trumps wife doesn't do much engagements? Trump looks like the type to bark orders and watch them jump. Who is to say behind closed doors at home what is going on? Makes me wish now I had bought one of his ex wives books.

My whole point is today men got a wake up call and I believe many will not like this new freedom women have in the US. But I have to look back centuries ago at how women ran countries and of course those that run them today. You might swear that human life stops at the US borders. They all can't be so dumb to not know women have run countries for decades. But some are acting like they never have and never should. How dense can they be?

List of women past and present. 90 Countries have had at least one woman running the country. So if a man tells you a woman can't be President give him this list. Take note too, many were reelected. A woman can be elected to any political office in the US at the bottom of the wiki are links to different State agencies and head Government offices around the world too.

Women have been undermined, overlooked and taken for granted for much too long. We have all been dismissed by an older more influential man, I had my high school Algebra teacher tell me to look for a nice man to take care of me and not to make too many plans about going onto higher education. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors, and class Valedictorian at the tender age of 48. As a teacher, myself I realize what damage his words had on my psyche and self worth. One simple truth, for all the harm the words cause, a callous forms over the wounds and we become stronger. It's a long time coming but a quiet revolution is underway, it has been happening for a very long time. Quietly women have become the dominant sex completing college and getting advanced degrees at higher rates than men, they become economically more powerful, buying and owning businesses and mentoring one another. A change is coming, and it has begun. If there is anything that we can be grateful to the current administration for it is galvanizing the actions of fed up women throughout the US.
