Hello. Anyone out there listening? Of all the Democratic candidates running in 2020 it seems as if there is really only one so far who first of all understands that our government is broken and is just not blowing smoke up peoples's butts but is actually proposing that which tackles our problems. Who but Senator Warren is talking about breaking up these monopolistic mega companies or getting rid of the electoral college or getting rid of citizens united or going after wall street and the banksters. Senator Warren understands that which is destroying our Country and is one of the few who isn't afraid to take on the challenges.

If Democrats want to once again win big then they need someone the people can get behind. Not because they spew a bunch of empty rhetoric like we hear coming out of that Beto guy's mouth but because they have proven they can accomplish real goals and are willing to stand up against these corrupt banksters and Wall street. The presidency is NOT about winning a popularity contest, it's about who is best suited to do the job and has the best qualifications based on actual performance and past accomplishments not upon some empty promises.

Getting rid of the Electoral College levels the playing field and every single person's vote counts and can't be over ridden by electoral votes. Let us not forget that Clinton won the last presidential election by over 3 million votes and look what is sitting in the oval office today. The Electoral College no longer serves a purpose except to let loser's such as Trump win elections.

The fact is that if you live in California or New York, or in Oklahoma or Idaho, and you want to choose who becomes president, it makes absolutely no difference whether you go vote or stay on your couch at home. Because of the Electoral College, your vote doesn't count; those four states are going red or blue no matter how you vote. That's why nobody ever campaigns there.

But if there were a national popular vote for president, every vote would indeed count.

Maybe rules need to be changed because this affects those of us who actually get off our asses and vote. The EC needs to go because if it doesn't it nullifies and diminishes the power of our votes.

Getting people off their sofas and out to vote is a whole other issue that needs to be addressed.

Repubs won’t sign on to this, of course, because if our elections were decided by the principle of *gasp* one person/one vote, they might not see any more presidents from their party.

Unless I mis-count, the last Republican President to take office because he won the most votes was George HW Bush, 31 years ago. This does not bode well for the GOP if they ever want to see another democratically-elected chief executive from their party.

In the meantime I'd recommend anyone who wants to abolish the electoral college to take a look at the national popular vote interstate compact. if your state isn't one of the ones that's already passed that long you should bring it up with your state senator and state representative to have them bring it to the floor of the State legislature. If enough States pass it electoral college while still technically existing is basically completely bypassed.

Thank you. We hear about Senator Warren taking on these challenges yet what we seem to be missing is any support of her Party. I am so with her as well.

If she's the nominee, I hope she chooses Pete Buttigieg as her VP. He's very smart and would be a great addition to the ticket.

He's also from Indiana and is mayor of South Bend. He'd be a great counterpoint to Pence and show that not all Hoosiers are mouth-breathing Christers.

Thanks Doug. So far I have to agree. She is at the top of my list. Another thing we need to keep in mind is that any president has to select a Cabinet and I honestly trust her to select people who would work on behalf of all the people and not just a few. You will not see a contingency of Wall Streeters getting top positions in her administration, that's for sure.
