Donald Trump had a whole lot of fun stomping on the grave of his former adviser Steve Bannon these past two weeks, but now it’s coming home to roost. Bannon has lost everything, from his political website to his radio gig to his billionaire backer. What happens when someone has nothing left to lose and blames it all on the President of the United States, and he just happens to know all of the President’s dirtiest secrets? We’re now rapidly getting that answer.

Bannon has quickly agreed to testify before Congress, which will take place behind closed doors on Tuesday, about the Trump-Russia scandal. He’s also telling the media that he’s willing to be interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. He’ll be asked to explain what he meant when he characterized Donald Trump Jr’s meeting with the Russians as “treasonous” and when he asserted that Donald Trump knew about the meeting. Bannon will fully cooperate. We know this for certain, because of whom he just hired.

Steve Bannon has hired Bill Burke as his attorney (link). Burke is also the attorney for Reince Priebus and Don McGahn. By definition, the same attorney can only represent multiple clients in the same criminal investigation if the interests of those clients are perfectly aligned without any potential for conflict. Priebus has already given Mueller his personal notes about Trump’s obstruction of justice, meaning he’s a cooperating witness. That means, by definition, that McGahn and Bannon are both cooperating witnesses.

It’s not at all surprising that Steve Bannon, with nothing left to lose and a huge axe to grind against Donald Trump, would quickly run into the arms of Trump-Russia investigators. If Bannon’s own hands are clean in the scandal, he can’t get into trouble. If his own hands are dirty, he can skate on a plea deal if he provides enough incriminating evidence against Trump. It is somewhat surprising, however, that Bannon is telegraphing his intentions so clearly. No wonder Trump in unraveling by the hour.

6 to one, half a dozen to the other, this is planned strategy btw Bannon and Trump.

I, for one, don't expect Bunion to turn on his pal Dotard.

We'll just have to wait 'n see.

When you consider the primary dysfunctionality of these various people, it isn't likely their goals will be reached successfully. I think it is much more likely that they will all go down in failure and many will be made to pay for their crimes.

Bannon in an unholy alliance with Priebus, as cooperating witnesses. I suppose they're both out of the race politically so that may be logical.

Why is his testimony closed if it doesn't involve anything that is classified? Since we know congressional republicans try to distort anything related the Russian interference in the 2016 election to favor Trump, even requesting witnesses to be criminally investigated by the FBI and not release the testimony to the public, why would we trust them to question anyone behind closed doors? We KNOW they are going to lie about the testimony one way or another.

We have a right to see those hearings, just as we saw the Watergate hearings. It essential, as we saw with the Fusion GPS people who were portrayed as uncooperative and potentially criminal. The transcript showed their determination to be ethical. They were so concerned by the implications that turned their findings into the FBI. It's also important to consider that none of this was used by the Democrats in the general election.

I said in my post about Bannon losing his biggest backers, the Mercers, that he was screwed big time and then I posted the update where he got fired from Breitbart. Having two alpha personalities such as Trump and Bannon neither one was going to leave this fight a loser. I said in my post that I thought Bannon was most likely to work with Mueller now that he has nothing to lose and look, it is actually happening. There were those who said it would never happen but we live in strange times.

Just think a person not elected to office telling the one who was how to run our country and neither of them not even close to being right. Maybe a President should have a contract and should have to followed what he campaigned on and if doesn’t he gets fired.
