This is one example of how the GOP and tRUmp are working in concert. He throws out the shiny objects, the Jong Un summit, the G-7 should be G-8 BS, the Ghoulianni, the outrageous tweets... while the craven congress do the following:

Meanwhile, late last week, this quietly slid through the House - (16) Of the amounts made available in section 1115A(f)(1)(B) of the Social Security Act, $800,000,000 are rescinded. I'm floored by this as the Baby Boomers continue to retire and edge on out of the system, they're gutting OUR MONEY.

Also included in the bill are several other items, to include the $2 BIL rescinding of CHIP, or children's health advocacy programs. I invite you to take a peek at it.

Oh, it's way worse than that.

              Medicare and CHIP

Rural housing assistance (for "low, low income" families and SENIORS) $40 MILLION rescinded

              Businesses

              Alternative energy companies

              The list goes on.

Please read the text at the direct link below. Congress is hitting most Americans either through health, housing, energy, the environment, and more.

Cutting $800 MILLION from Social Security spending represents that 23% cut news outlets have been warning us about - as early as 2022.

It's unclear to me what Congress wants to cut.

ACTUALLY, THIS NEW BILL IS THE RESULT OF A MAY 8, 2018 REQUEST FROM THE WHITE HOUSE FOR THESE CUTS.

We absolutely have to get to the polls in November, and we'd d@mn well better show up in November 2020, or most of us are going to end up living under bushes or on top of street grates.

We worked. We followed the rules. We raised our families and our children now do the work. We have a social contract.

              We'd better protect it.

If there is any more interference in our elections, and we get this crowd back as the result, we need to go to the next step, whatever that may be.

THIS BILL THREATENS THE LIVES OF 10S OF MILLIONS OF AMERICANS.

Thank you, opie for the badge. It will help get others to really look at this POS legislation. People really need to know what Congress is about to do under cover of Trump Trash Tantrums.

I'm a little unclear....did this pass the House, or is this just a bill that was submitted to correct or at 'least point out' some of the massive overspending that was agreed to by Democrats and Republicans a few months ago because they could not agree on what to cut so they just agree to pass a bill that gave more money to both sides that was not backed up by associated increases in revenue or cuts in other programs to keep the budget in balance. (or at least closer to being balanced) Congress (both parties) acts like my teenage kids would have acted if I had turned over our household income for them spend. If you have had children I don't need to explain what that would look like after a few months. Your mortgage company would be knocking at your door but you would have a 75" TV and a new swimming pool.

Unfortunately this bill does not give the details of exactly what they have in mind. For example cutting $800,000,000 from Social Security. I have no idea what that is. The benefits paid out to recipients is established by a published formula, Congress does not have the option to reduce anyones monthly benefit check so what is that money associated with that certain members of Congress would think is optional spending?

The more important issue is....even if this passes the House, it will simply go into the stack of 500 other bills from the House that will just set in a box that will never be looked at by the Senate. All of these bills will expire at the end of the year with the new congress. This is no more complex than a political stunt from the old tea party members playing to their base....they know this is not going anywhere. No reason for panic.

tRump demanded that Congress come up with 51BILLION in budget cuts and the link I provided IS THAT BILL.

                              in short,

                              yes it passed the HOUSE

they REMOVED 800K from Social Security. Take a closer look and let us know?

There's a lot more in there, you should really take a peek. I'm just the messenger.

I hope you're right, however, I think that this is worth full on panic.

I heard about that 800K number from some random tweet in December right after the Tax Reform bill was passed. It's a little bit wonky that I see the exact same number now in this bill.
