The Trump Agenda
What Are We Missing?

I can't shake the feeling that there's a part of the Trumpist agenda we're not fully grasping. It seems that lately we're confronted by decisions, statements and actions that simply defy our understanding and we therefore dismiss as random acts of people who have no idea what they're doing.
But what if they know exactly what they're doing while we're constantly being distracted by a steady stream of "shiny objects"?
Why move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem now? That's a can that's been kicked down the road by four presidents. It was undoubtedly and unnecessarily provocative, just days after blowing up the Iran nuclear deal, and then selecting the most controversial figure imaginable, Christian evangelical extremist Rev. Robert Jeffress, to sanctify the occasion.
Robert Jeffress says “you can’t be saved by being a Jew,“ and “Mormonism
is a heresy from the pit of hell.” He’s said the same about Islam. Such a
religious bigot should not be giving the prayer that opens the
United States Embassy in Jerusalem.
Prior to the ceremony Jeffress told Fox News, “I’m going to be thanking God for the strong leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu, who is absolutely determined to protect Israel. And I’m also going to be thanking God for our President Donald Trump, who had the courage to do what no other U.S. president has done, and that is to officially recognize Jerusalem and to move the embassy.”
The 250-person U.S. delegation include White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.
Ambassadors from only four European Union countries (Austria, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic) attended a reception on Sunday, while representatives from other nations boycotted in protest.
Fox News host "Judge" Janine Pirro proclaimed that Trump had fulfilled biblical prophesy:
″[Trump], like King Cyrus before him, fulfilled the biblical prophecy of the gods worshipped by Jews, Christians and, yes, Muslims, that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish state and that the Jewish people finally deserve a righteous, free and sovereign Israel.”
The almost immediate worldwide condemnation included a conclusion that the United States had declared that we could no longer be considered an "honest broker" in the efforts to achieve peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The subtler message is that we have adopted Israel's aggressive position against Iran and are prepared go to war in their support.
