First question one would ask themselves after watching/listening to the interview would most likely be, what did I learn from this interview? I would have to say just about all of which was discussed between Comey and Stephanopoulos had already been made public. What really did come through in that interview was how uncomfortable Comey was around Trump. This interview didn't really have any earth shattering revelations but mostly centered around Comey's personal feelings and observations during his short time as head of the FBI under Trump's tenure in the White House. Should we have expected some real dirt on Trump to come from this interview? What I personally was hoping to hear about was the day to day on goings at the White House and how Trump viewed the role of the FBI. Instead Comey spoke of his regrets especially his participation in the Hillary investigation and didn't really go into any depth except to say he did have regrets and didn't know if he really did or did not directly play a role in preventing Hillary from winning the election.

Okay, I got it. Comey was not at all comfortable around Trump especially when Trump had these one on one conversations with Comey. Comey felt that these conversations should not have taken place and in hindsight he should have declined the offer to meet one on one with Trump. Well if Comey did feel these one on one meetings with Trump were inappropriate then why after the first one continue to meet with Trump culminating in a one on one dinner at the White House.

What I got from this interview is that Comey conducted himself in a very civil and mature manner and even in his criticism of folks he felt had let him down or slighted him, yet he still maintained his civility and did not once try to turn this interview into a mud slinging contest. You just wait. Trump has already long before this interview demeaned and degraded Comey with his childish vulgar insults. Wait, wait, there will be more to come because Trump cannot allow Comey, or anyone, have the last word. Wait for the rantings of a 10 year old to come.

Was this really the in depth interview everyone was expecting or was this some slick public relations move conducted to sell his book?

All of us need to remember ......

A "book deal" always comes with a contract .....

That contract will always include interviews and "signings" to promote the book .....

The publisher wants to make back their investment .....

Ever seen a movie that doesn't do the same ?

Its how the business works ....

Just because Comey has a veneer of civility doesn't mean he's above self-promotion. He has a book to sell, after all.

What's most interesting to me about Comey is not Comey himself, but how the sand dunes of public opinion shift about him. When he announced that Clinton would not, could not, be prosecuted, he was villified by the right for absolving her and also by the left for tainting her by not giving her a clean bill of health. When he announced that the investigation was reopened he was a hero to the right and a villain to the left. He was directly accused of trying to throw the election. When he was fired months later his former supporters turned their backs on him and his former foes became his ardent supporters.

Comey wasn't the only one at the FBI who worked on the Clinton investigation. I am assuming those others who did work with him on the investigation are still working for the FBI. One day when these people retire from the job or move on to another job we might get more information about what really went down.

I found that Comey was a master of the sneaky double negative - such as "I can't say absolutely that Trump did not do . . ." Perfect accusation while adding nothing. As an investigator, he is the sort of person who asks the sort of question, "When did you stop beating your wife?" Apart from that, I am reasonably convinced he is mainly trying to sell books, and I guess soon for later the author in me shall become envious of the sales.

As I mentioned to tepake, one day others who worked with Comey on Clinton's investigation will retire or leave the FBI and might have a tale of their own to tell. We might see more books in the future about the FBI and Trump but also about Comey and his role. You can be well assured Comey's book will be no. 1 on the NYT book list.

The interview was just like Comey's book. A serious let down to anyone who thought something new would become known. Mostly it is about his opinion of President Trump. I was not surprised that it was not very high, since President Trump said "Your Fired".

I don't think I will purchase the book but just get in from my local library. How often these books get all that hype and turn out to be duds.

I think Comey was in between a rock and a hard place. Congress released his letter about the investigation. If Comey hadn't reopened the investigation he would have been accused of hiding information in order to have Hillary win. I think he did what he thought best for the FBI not for political reasons. They need to make it where the President is not over the FBI for these reasons.

Comey announced the end of the investigation and the New York police department got a subpoena for the pervert Weiner's computers. Classified State Department documents were on the computer. Comey was caught. He could not cover this up.
