This is rich! Everyone who was paying attention already knew the House Benghazi Witch Hunt Committee’s real purpose was to attack Hillary Clinton because they thought she would run for president. Well, everyone except the press.
Eight investigations have determined that although mistakes were made in the security of the U.S. embassy in Libya, including a lack of Congressional funding, there were no wrongdoings by President Obama or Secretary Clinton. However, that has not precluded the republican led U.S. House of Representatives from spending over $4.5 million to continue looking for something to charge President Obama and/or Secretary Clinton with. But after the presumptive successor to Speaker Boehner revealed that the purpose of the committee was merely to attack Hillary Clinton, because most people thought she was unbeatable as a presidential candidate, even the press is now quoting Michael Kinsley’s explanation of what a gaffe is. Kinsley once said, “A gaffe is when a politician tells the truth – some obvious truth he isn’t supposed to say.”
Kevin McCarthy’s gaffe highlights that the very people who are the most vigorous promoters that Hillary Clinton is not “trustable”, are the very people who are not “trustable”. As I have stated many times, it is not so much that republicans do this. I actually expect them to do this. The real problem as I see it, is that the press eats it up, and Democrats cave in to it. One of the panelists on this morning’s version of Fox and Friends on MSNBC explained the anatomy of a Clinton scandal. The Clintons, he said, rather than giving in to their accusers, actually puts up a fight and requires the accusers to prove their claims. I think he intended to portray that this was bad. NEWS FLASH FOR WASHINGTON D.C. PRESS: This is the kind of person I want fighting republicans in Washington D.C.
Case in point. Emailgate. Think for a second. Were emails around during the Bush administration? Colin Powell said he didn’t use emails a lot, but he did use a personal email address as well as a State Department email address, and that he handed over his personal emails when he left State. Condi Rice says she didn’t use emails much at all. Doesn’t’ this beg the question, WHY? The Bush administration led the USA into an ill-advised invasion of Iraq that disputably created ISIL. WHY is the press not interested in using the FOIA to examine those emails? Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby exposed the identity of a covert CIA agent. WHY is the press not interested in using the FOIA to examine those emails?
As I have stated before, it is impossible to use a personal email server without the people you are corresponding with knowing you are using a personal email server. The reason that is important is because Hillary Clinton DID NOT hide the fact that she used a personal server WHILE SHE WAS USING IT. On the other hand, where are the emails from the Bush administration? From either a personal server or a government server? Joe Scarborough continuously says Hillary Clinton lied by saying she was allowed to use a private email server. The problem for Joe is that according to Valerie Jarrett, it was allowed. Jarrett recent said in an interview with Andrea Mitchell that the guidance was the government business should be done on government emails, and if you did use private emails you were to hand them over when you left, AND that is what Hillary Clinton has done.
But wait! There’s more! What about classified information? Well, so far we have some emails being retroactively classified. Republicans contend that it doesn’t matter that the emails were not marked classified when Secretary Clinton had them, and all that matters is she transmitted classified information on a private server. That argument could have some merit. Possibly. However, until now it hasn’t been revealed that anyone knew about those emails. So what is the issue? That they COULD have known, and that China or Russia PROBABLY hacked Secretary Clinton’s account? The problem with that argument is we KNOW they hacked the government’s server, while we don’t actually know if they hacked Secretary Clinton’s private server.
The bottom line is because of Benghazi and her use of a private email server for official State Department business, Hillary Clinton is not “trustable”, so we should run her out of town on a rail, in favor of one of the republican presidential candidates, who is more “trustable”.
Where is the accountability of the press, and are we REALLY that stuck on stupid?
