Why do people have a legitimate reason this election to say it is the most important election in their life? Answer should be easy. It's because never before in the history of our Nation have we seen such corruption in our government and a president who is not only incompetent, but one who promotes divisiveness, uses hatred and fear mongering as a means to scare the most uninformed and gullible (in other words, that would be Trump's followers) also one who is destroying our country from within by destroying our institutions one by one. If that isn't bad enough Trump uses his position to give a voice to the white nationalists and refuses to confront them because, well because he agrees with their ideology and is a flat out racist himself.

There is so much at stake in this election. We need to put a check on Trump as well as on his handlers, those still calling themselves Republicans, and this election will give us a chance to start that process. One thing Democrats need this election if nothing else is to regain control of the House. We have to also have strong showings in local elections and also start to win Governorships in these red States. As far as regaining the Senate goes. Well that is a long shot and the best thing would be not to lose seats. If we do all of the following guess what we have to look forward to? We can look forward to the next most important election of our lifetime, the 2020 election. Seriously, 2018 at this juncture in time IS the most important election of our lifetime but come 2020 when we need to hold any gains we made in 2018 and start winning back seats in Congress and the regain the presidency then the 2020 election will become the most important election of our lifetime.

The stakes are high. If Democrats retake the House, they will be able to slow or stall Trump’s agenda. Even if they stop short of launching formal impeachment proceedings, they will have the power to hold hearings into the myriad corruption scandals that surround the president and his appointees. There will, at last, be a substantial check on his power.

If, on the other hand, Democrats fall short in the House and – as the polls predict – Republicans maintain or even tighten their grip on the Senate, then Trump’s position will be even stronger than when he took office. He will hold the executive and both houses of Congress, alongside what is now, thanks to him and the two appointments he made, a more reliably conservative supreme court.

The Republicans won the last election on a hate-filled populist movement which we see the hatred increasing in intensity more and more each day. If that isn't bad enough we now have a buffoon sitting in the oval office fanning the flames of that hatred with his constant barrages of his vulgar violent rhetoric. Removing Republicans from office has to be done because these people who call themselves Republicans today are not lifting a finger to keep Trump in check. In fact, these Republicans today are just as responsible for our situation today as Trump is because they are allowing him to go unchecked.

So, yes, This is going to be the most important election of your lifetime. You know what you need to do, now do it.

All discerning people are praying for the best for the US and hope that all the crazy and heinous things ( love for money at the expense of humanity etc) perpetrated by the US under this President is overturned to the benefit of the world at large. Discerning minds are watching.

We, Americans, got ourselves into a real mess and now find ourselves in a very precarious position. If we don't take all this money which is hoarded by a few, out of the equation it's going to get a whole lot worse under this current administration.

From the point of view of a non-American, most of what upsets me about the current administration is its divisiveness, and the fact the President seems to be able to arbitrarily make very important international decisions. For example, Trump seems to have pulled out of a lot of international agreements, which, from the point of view of a non-American makes international relations with America very difficult. Why try to make an agreement if one side will arbitrarily discard it? Unfortunately, I am not sure that even if the House changes hands, this won't significantly change Trump's behaviour (other than he may be running out of international agreements to reject). Somewhat depressing.

The hatred and divisions Trump is stoking are horrible. The corruption is horrible. Selling out the 99% to the 1% in every way possible is horrible. Dismantling our best institutions is horrible.

And we don’t yet know how much damage is being done every day by having Trump’s cabinet violate the laws and subvert the purposes of all the federal government departments they supervise. Every department, such as the EPA, was created by laws approved by both houses of Congress and signed by Presidents. All those laws are being broken every day. The EPA has opened the door to limitless poisoning of the air, water, and soil. The Dept. of Education is working to destroy public education. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau now facitates bank fraud instead of policing it. And on and on and on. The laws creating the missions for the departments have not been changed. But outlaws have been put in charge of making sure those laws are broken and the missions of the departments are subverted. When, not if, we throw Trump out, enormous damage must be repaired..
